At least Luke Listened

walter_hanson Monday, January 31st at 9:52AM EST (link)

Keep in mind in the Star Wars world Luke Skywalker had to listen to Obi-wan to try to be trained. It seems like even though there are plenty of Obi-wans telling Obama important things he’s just electing to ignore them. Good for us in the 2012 elections! Bad for the country until we clean up the mess he’s creating!

Yeah, and when he DIDN'T listen...

stephaniet Tuesday, February 1st at 11:18PM EST (link)

…he got his hand chopped off!

“LUKE DON’T GO!”
“I must!”
“Fine, but I’m not responsible!”
“Whatever, old dude!”

*big fight*

“AUUUUUUUGHHHH MY HAND!”

Anyway, the point to my my caffeine-induced nerdy rambling is this, and is in line with Walter’s: If you don’t listen to your Obi-Wan, everything gets screwed up, and it’s all your own fault!

“*They* say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I *prefer* the weapon you only have to fire *once*. That’s how Dad did it; that’s how America does it… and it’s worked out pretty well so far.”

Most excellent!

That was probably better than mine - mostly because I pictured him as a holographic Leia. That would make a good cartoon.

This is fun! I mean it!

I voted for austinandy’s myself, I wish I’d said it. Please keep it going. Personally I stay away from Star Wars references, Lucas is way past his prime and Star Wars is a distant memory, but it wasn’t mine to judge. I think of Robert Gibbs with the Star Wars Book coming down the steps of Air Force One…and I see why it won.

That’s why I voted for austinandy’s entry, in a way. It’s about time people grew up.

I take strong offense and so should you!

This cartoon picture really is outrageous and depicts an image that these two would be buddies on a golf course or regularly seen together at any social and political gathering.

Of course nothing could be farther from the truth.

These two men are polar opposites. In fact the former President Reagan would be turning over in his grave right now if he knew the ideology he defeated in the Cold War with the Soviet Union would be the ideology embraced so fully by our standing President.

To allow this left wing progressive President to steal the emblematic symbol of conservative America by continuing to adopt an approving Ronald Reagan in his speeches and using images such as this cartoon to pass them off as bosom pals cut from the same cloth to soften the political contrasts is not only absurd but malicious.

The left tried and failed to degrade him,. Tried and failed to diminish his legacy. Now they simply want his legacy as their own.

Unfortunately this cartoon is projecting more of the same.

Do you really think

rickbull Monday, January 31st at 11:28PM EST (link)

that anyone on the right (or the left) is buying this Obama as Reagan crap? Obama would have to stand on his mother’s shoulders to kiss Ronald Reagan’s behind.

May God bless Ronald Reagan, the second greatest man to ever walk on planet Earth. (of course, we should all know who #1 is–hint: his initials are J.C.)

More importantly he does. Why do you think he’s selling it? He has the marketing arm of the major media. Those who were not in their formative years may have little or different memories of Reagan. If they can lessen the measureables between the two then there’s less signifance to differntiate and less impact when the conservatives bring up Reagan.

He will have deflected the sharp contrast in policy and leadership by seeming to be more like him..

The lamestream media has spent the past 30 years portraying Reagan as a moron;

All we have to do is wait for 0bama to be fully invested in comparing himself to Reagan, then we pull out all the stops and replay all the negative things that the LSM said about St. Ronnie and, by association, they will be indicting Zerobama.

Do you see the look on Reagan’s face? This cartoon absolutely does not do what you claim. It does the opposite, which is the basis for the humorous quote (which further pokes fun at the relationship Obama is trying to create in people’s minds).

I went back and forth many time with myself when trying to decide whether to put a thought bubble above Reagan’s head. The thought bubble would have contained the letters “WTF?” (to bring the Palin quote into the mix) but decided that it was something the Reagan probably wouldn’t be thinking or saying.

Reagan’s eyes tell the WHOLE story.

Simply responding

To me this picture represents a mellowing of the differences between two polar opposites. I will also admit that I am biased and could be over sensitive on the issue. Therefore overreacting is a possibility.

But it is in Obama’s interests to merely cut the harsh severity between the eras, their positions and his own low ratings and convey an image that he’s more like him in a kinder and gentler approach in trying to be a uniter (we know he’s not).

After all, the most devastating thing you can do to an adversary is to say you agree.

And that is why Obama is usurping Reagan as an approving father image. It’s not about position but image.
