Good, Bad, and Ugly
Reader reaction to Reuters news
Whose fists are those?
You incorrectly headlined a video clip “Protesters pump fists at Wisconsin lawmakers.”
Those are actually Democratic lawmakers pumping fists at Republican lawmakers after the surprise vote late Thursday night in the State Assembly.
Protesters are not allowed inside the chamber, they are out of camera range in the gallery.
Lost in translation?
I’d like to bring to your attention that your report\translator mistranslated what the police officer stated of the incident.
He said jonongon which means public\people, but your translator said mobster.
Polly want a correction?
“The Netherlands and Spain will square off Sunday for the World Cup final, the first ever for both sides.”
On Mani the parrot, who predicts the Netherlands will win the World Cup, your reporter mistakenly, in her voiceover, says this is the first time for each Spain and the Netherlands to be in the World Cup final. That is incorrect. The Netherlands has been in two previous final games.
Adam That’s quite an embarrassing error to make two days before the finals. We corrected: GBU Editor
How big was the schooner?
Both in print and in the video you say he sailed a 7-foot schooner!
You should look at the size of his schooner a second time, because it’s a “70-foot boat” NOT a “7-foot boat!!!”
Keith
I can understand your on scene reporter stating into the mic that this fellow sailed his 7 foot schooner around the world in the longest sea voyage ever, because we all misspeak.
Not Marines
A June 6 Reuters video report said that “U.S. Marines and Iraq” were working together in Basra.
However, the U.S. military members WERE U.S. NAVY RIVERINES, NOT MARINES. As the PAO for the Little Creek, Virginia-based Riverine squadrons, I’m requesting a correction be made to give these men the credit they deserve.
Barbara Albritton
We replaced that report with a corrected version which did identify the Riverines: GBU Editor
Born in Washington?
Mei Lan, whose name means “Atlanta Beauty” is a Giant Panda who was born on September 6, 2006, at Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. You erroneously reported that she was born in Washington, DC.
I have watched this panda grow up ever since she was born. For you to report that she was born in Washington, DC, is not only an unfortunate misrepresentation but completely undermines Zoo Atlanta as the most successful Giant Panda breeding and conservation program in the United States. A correction to this story is necessary, and I believe an apology is in order to Mei Lan, Zoo Atlanta, and all of us in Atlanta who have been combing the news to keep up with our Atlanta Beauty since her departure, and we shall continue to do so.
Which country was it?
Please re-edit the script in you video…. the reader mentioned the country as Indonesia..it should be Malaysia.
Charles
It was a very confusing report, to be sure. We pulled it: GBU Editor
Police unmasked?
In your video section is a “new” video about the arrest of a top sicilian mafia boss. The title of the video is: Top Sicilian Mafia Boss Arrested.
Now the big problem is, near the end of the video you are showing the face of one of the police agents (I think he is a police agent).
You can see that this agent shortly before he puts his “mask” on the face, (all other agents also have a “mask” on the face) so that no one can recognize him.
I think you are showing the scene in error, because this can be very dangerous for this police agent. Please take action against this fault.
Volume, volume, volume…
The sound or volume of your advertisements are much louder than your news clips. I work in an office and I have to constantly raise the volume to hear the news clip and react quickly to very loud ads.
Please fix this. I really appreciate the news coverage.

Good catch, at first glance the orange t-shirts looked like prison jumpsuits. Clearly not the case!
