Georgia Task Force Co-Chairs Sponsor Senate Bill on Georgia's Territorial Integrity
U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Lindsay Graham (R-SC), Co-Chairs of the Atlantic Council Task Force on Georgia, introduced Senate resolution 698 titled "A resolution expressing the sense of the Senate with respect to the territorial integrity of Georgia and the situation within Georgia's internationally recognized borders" to the Committee on Foreign Relations.

Richard Burt
Ambassador Richard Burt is currently a member of the Atlantic Council's Board of Directors and Strategic Advisors Group.
Ambassador Burt earned a BA in government from Cornell University in 1969 and an MA in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in 1971. After 1971, he was asked to become a Research Fellow at the U.S. Naval War College. During this time he also served as a consultant to the House of Representatives’ Republic Wednesday group on foreign policy. Until 1977, he worked in London at the International Institute for Strategic Studies as a research associate and then Director. From 1977 to 1980, Ambassador Burt worked at the Washington bureau of The New York Times as national security correspondent.
In 1981, Burt entered the US Department of State as the Director of Politico-Military Affairs. Soon he moved to serve as the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Canadian Affairs. From 1985-1989, Burt served as the US Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany.
From 1992 to 1995, Ambassador Burt was a partner with McKinsey & Co., a global consulting firm after he successfully negotiated the Strategic Arms Reduction Talks with the Former Soviet Union.The Honorable Richard Burt serves a Managing Director at the Kissinger McLarty Associates (KMA). In addition to this post, Burt also serves as chairman of IEP Advisors, an international consulting group, an advisor to the Carlyle Group, a private equity investment firm and as a counselor to Barbour Griffith and Rogers, a public affairs group in Washington. He also serves on the Board of Deutsche Bank’s closely-end fund group, the Alfa Bank’s Senior advisory Board (Moscow) and on the Board of International Games Technology. He is also a trustee of the UBS family of mutual funds and of EADS North America.
Ambassador Burt also serves as senior advisor to the Center for Strategic and International Studies and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is also a member of the Aspen Institute’s Middle East Strategy Group.

On December 2nd, the Atlantic Council's Global Business & Economics Program and the Bertelsmann Foundation hosted a panel discussion to launch a report entitled "Adapting the U.S.-EU Summit for a Globalized World," surveying the recently concluded U.S.-EU Summit in Lisbon, Portugal, and also looking ahead to the upcoming December 17th meeting of the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC).
