Who is the New Type B?
The New Type B is a new and emergent personality—for a new kind of global company. More than just one homogenized person, it’s an all-embracing movement in the workforce. Better informed, outspoken and phenomenally effective.
The New Type B is out there, hard at work, solving the great ‘unsolvable’ problems. It’s not what you do that defines the New Type B. Only what you do that’s never been done.
What does Bloomberg do?
We deliver the best information to our clients—in a world where information matters. That’s why we are the most trusted source of knowledge for businesses, governments and professionals.

Why does it matter?
We make our clients the best-informed decision makers in the world. To do so, we provide everything from global insight to the most granular piece of data.

We’ve tapped into the New Type B personality. That means we do things a bit differently. We have unique terminology and roles that don’t limit or define you. Exceptional performers are rewarded, regardless of tenure.
We value brazenly fresh ideas. Our goals are demanding. We work incredibly hard, sitting shoulder to shoulder in vibrant environments. Our senior managers are out in the open. No private offices. Our 24-hour food pantries are a hub of collaboration. Our glass conference rooms accentuate the open flow of ideas.
Career Growth
The focus here is on building your career, rather than climbing a predefined ladder. In fact, careers at Bloomberg are only defined by your performance and ambition. We blur the lines between titles and even cross business functions.
When we recruit, we strive to understand what moves and motivates you. We consider fundamental questions, like “Do you have the aptitude to learn?” and “Can you do what’s never been done?” Our jobs are challenging, innovative and inspiring. We’re often breaking entirely new ground. That means we learn as we go, responding to the unforeseen. Change is constant. Adapting is pivotal.
Training & Development
To provide our all-inclusive products and services, no one’s role can be undervalued. We invest heavily in helping every employee reach his or her maximum potential.
You will find an array of training and career development opportunities. Job-specific courses in financial markets, sales, journalism, technology and Bloomberg products are complemented by essential training in communications and presentation. When you are hired, paid training can last up to 16 weeks. That alone speaks to our level of dedication.
We want you to own your growth, chart your career and seize opportunities in front of you. We encourage you to shadow people in different departments or apply to work outside your normal area. We offer instructor-led and self-study courses, as well as special training events. Many take advantage of our generous tuition reimbursement program.

Philanthropy & Sustainability
Responsible citizenship and volunteerism are ingrained in who we are. Our goal is not to make some publicized list but to solve human challenges. For us, it’s not about “Who” we are by helping but “What” we are doing to help. Together, we believe that every problem has a solution. That’s why we are reducing our carbon footprint by 50% by 2013.
We team with charities and nonprofit organizations worldwide. We support education and literacy programs, health and medical research, social work, arts and culture, public parks and the environment. Our “Best of Bloomberg” program encourages everyone at Bloomberg to donate time, energy and expertise.
When an employee volunteers more than 25 hours in a year, we make a donation to the charity of his or her choice. These opportunities enable every one of our volunteers to maximize the service they give. In 2009 alone, our employees volunteered over 22,000 hours.
