Late today streaming music service Pandora filed to go public. Others will dissect the filing in much more detail than I will, but a few quick items from my initial wander through:
- 80m users
- Revenues grew 35% (to $19m) in 2009, and 184% (to $55.2m) in 2010
- Cash flow was $-27m in 2010, deteriorating from $-14.7m in 2009, ballooning in part on disproportionate AR expansion
- Random risk item: “The licensing structure that we operate under may … cease to exist”
- Random scurrilousness: A SVP’s spouse received 40,000 options pre-IPO

The Few, The Proud, The Remaining Military Dictatorships

With news today that Egypt’s Hosni Mubarak is stepping down and the military is (temporarily) taking over, that does wonders for the previously shrinking number of military dictatorships around the world. Here are the current holdouts:
- Fiji – Since 2006
- Libya – Since 1969
- Niger – Since 2010
- North Korea – Since …
- Egypt — Since 2011
Let’s hope Egypt doesn’t stay on the list long, as this is not exactly auspicious company with respect to economic prospects and general freedoms.
