Have you tried free tax software through the IRS Free File program or directly from an online tax software provider? I would like to hear some opinions of how free tax software worked out for you.
Microsoft Money has been technically dead as of weeks ago, yet I keep getting nominations for the software as best Windows personal finance software for the 2011 About.com Readers' Choice Awards. Some of the nominations include notes like, "Microsoft Money - RIP", or "Microsoft Money, if it still existed", so there's awareness that the software is no longer sold or supported.
Few former Microsoft Money users have been able to recommend a Money replacement, and many have told me that they will just use Money Plus Sunset Deluxe and do all the data entry manually.
MS Money is really being missed. It would have been better for Microsoft to put more funds into developing and supporting the personal finance software rather than canning it altogether, even if doing so meant raising the price of the software.
I've heard about Liquid Ledger personal finance software for Mac, but haven't really taken a close look at it. This morning, I stumbled onto Liquid Ledger 2 while doing some online research and my first impression was that this Mac financial software looks really great. Liquid Ledger 2 has some excellent personal finance features, like using Command-K to create a new transaction in an account register without leaving your keyboard, a built-in calculator, multiple currency support, page break print preview and the ability to print checks.
I haven't tested Liquid Ledger 2 yet, but I'm putting it on my software-to-review list, and I've updated the description on my Mac Personal Finance Software list.
Liquid Ledger has a free 60 day trial, so Mac users can take it for a spin before buying ($49.99 to download, $29.99 for upgrades).
