In what's becoming a disturbing trend, the annual Ghost House Underground series of horror films has once again chopped its output in half. What started out as a promising eight films in 2008 (presenting a seemingly direct challenge to After Dark Horrorfest's "8 Films to Die For") dwindled to four in 2009, and now, after a yearlong hiatus, Ghost House Pictures -- the genre production company co-founded by Sam Raimi -- is releasing a measly two flicks in 2011 as part of its severely diminished series. Bucking conventional movie release strategy, the upcoming apocalyptic horror movie Vanishing on 7th Street will be available on demand to home viewers -- on January 7, 2011 -- before hitting theaters (in limited release) on February 18. Kevin Williamson, the creator of The Vampire Diaries and writer of big-screen horror hits like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, is reportedly developing a new TV show for the CW about a "group of people who investigate paranormal happenings." According to Deadline, the show is envisioned as a possible companion to The Vampire Diaries, meaning the Fringe/X-Files-type plot might get a young adult spin...like, say, Supernatural?
