Jetty Anchoring

I catch a ton of fish on and around the various jetties in my area. These rocks are home to a large variety of fish. Every time I fish a jetty, I see a boater either loose an anchor, or place himself in jeopardy of loosing his boat. Proper anchoring technique along with the right anchor will prevent this from happening.

Every spring for the past several years, I go through the same ritual. This year is no different. The shad run is kicking into high gear in the upper Roanoke River in North Carolina, and my son David and I just returned from a two-day trip. Hickory shad are making their annual spawning run, and catches of over 100 fish a day will be common over the next two weeks below the dam in Roanoke Rapids in the area of Weldon. It's been a great winter for seatrout for me. I located several big schools of trout earlier and they have basically remained in the same area for the whole winter. It's a behavior that is worth knowing if you want to be successful.
