TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Eleven members of the Pakistan-based Jundallah terrorist group have been executed in Iran, Iran's justice department said.

They were executed for carrying out terrorist attacks in Sistan-Baluchestan, Iran's Press TV reported Monday.

"Eleven members of those belonging to Jundallah terrorist group who had played a role in carrying out terrorist attacks in the province (Sistan-Baluchestan) during the recent months, fighting with police, and martyring several innocent people have been hanged in Zahedan jail," said Ebrahim Hamidi, head of the provincial Justice Department.

Jundallah also claimed responsibility for terrorist attacks in the southeastern Iranian city of Chabahar Dec. 15 that killed at least 38 people, Press TV said.

"These corrupt and mohareb (an enemy of God) elements have been identified and arrested by security and intelligence forces," Hamidi said. "The sentence was carried out after receiving confirmation from the country's senior judicial bodies."

Jundallah leader Abdolmalek Rigi was executed in June. In confessions before his execution, he reportedly said the U.S. government promised unlimited funds and resources for "waging an insurgency" in Iran.
