New Summer Program in Washington and Madrid

TRANSNATIONAL PERSPECTIVE ON INTERNATIONAL LEGAL AND
POLITICAL ISSUES MAY—JULY 2010
 

Georgetown University & Universidad Rey Juan Carlos

Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA and the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid, Spain announce a new joint program intended to provide the advanced training necessary to understand the 21st‐century international legal, political and economic environment, focusing on Spain/Europe, the U.S.A. and Latin America.

The nine‐week program meets in Madrid and Washington and utilizes the academic, governmental, and policy resources of both capitals. Lectures will be complemented with extensive site visits and fieldtrips.

The program is organized around two broad themes: (1) International Politics and Law with modules taught by Antonio Pastor, Robert Lieber, Vicente Garrido, and, Catherine Lotrionte; and (2) European Integration and International Political Economy with sessions conducted by Michael Bailey, Eric Langenbacher, Santiago Fernández, and Javier Guillen.

The total cost of the program including accommodation and meals in Madrid and Washington is US$ 7700.00 (not including airfare).

Applications to this program will be accepted until April 9, 2010. Applicants must submit: (a) personal statement; (b) letter of reference; (c) letter from a professional familiar with applicants’ Spanish skills; and, (d) unofficial transcript. Those accepted must send a deposit of $2000 by April 19, 2010 and the balance by May 3, 2010.
