Ghosn: Cost Data Key to Renault Spy Case

Updated ET

PARIS—Information allegedly stolen from Renault SA in a high-profile corporate espionage case could be related to the cost of the French car company's electric cars—key data that would give competitors insight into the cars' technology, according to Renault Chief Executive Carlos Ghosn.

In recent weeks, Renault dismissed three executives who worked on its electric-car program for allegedly leaking strategic information in exchange for money. Renault so far hasn't given details on what, or to whom, the men allegedly provided, saying only that the case concerned the economic model, rather than the technology, for electric cars. Renault has filed a criminal complaint against "unknown subjects" with France's state prosecutor.
