The Wall Street Journal on Foursquare™

The Wall Street Journal wants to help you explore New York, so we've teamed up with Foursquare™, a location-based social network.

Follow the Journal on Foursquare for tips from the Lunch Box, our new daily column of restaurant reviews. You can also earn these Wall Street Journal badges as you check into places around the city:

  • Have you seen the whole city? Unlock the Urban Adventurer badge by checking into each of New York's five boroughs.

  • For our readers who spend a lot of time downtown, there's the Banker Badge. Unlock it with three check-ins in the financial district.

  • Read the Lunch Box column in the Journal and, to unlock the badge, check in twice at lunchtime to restaurants we've reviewed.

  • What's Foursquare?

Foursquare is a social network for meeting up with your friends and discovering new places. You can check into restaurants, bars, museums, and other locations to let your friends know where you are and see who else is there.

  • Check-in? Badges? Unlock? Huh?

Those are terms used on Foursquare. Checking in just means informing your friends where you are. Badges are rewards for your activity on Foursquare, and earning one is known as unlocking it.
