Maher Abukhater covers the Palestinian Territories for the Times. He joined the paper in 1997, just before the peace process broke down and the Second Intifada erupted. He previously served as managing editor of the English-language Palestinian weekly, Al-Fajr. He received a Bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kentucky in Lexington in 1982 and a Master's degree in mass communication from the same university in 1984.
