BAGHDAD—Inspired by the protests in Egypt and Tunisia, hundreds of demonstrators gathered Monday in central Baghdad, but their demands centered on day-to-day issues such as power cuts and poor housing, rather than any attempt to topple the Iraqi government.
As speakers blared the Iraqi national anthem, the protesters waved flags and accused government officials of corruption. "You are all thieves," they chanted.
