LOS ANGELES — The Envelope (http://theenvelope.com), The Los Angeles Times entertainment awards insider, will host two stellar events on Saturday, January 15th, bringing together six visionary filmmakers for its 2nd annual Directors Roundtable at The Times historic downtown building and undertaking the first Music Producers Roundtable at the Grammy® Museum. Both will be moderated by Times editorial staff, resulting in multimedia coverage including feature stories, video clips, podcasts and photos.

The Directors Roundtable will assemble 2011 award contenders Ben Affleck ("The Town"), Darren Aronofsky ("Black Swan"), Lisa Cholodenko ("The Kids Are All Right"), Ethan Coen ("True Grit"), David Fincher ("The Social Network") and Tom Hooper ("The King's Speech") for a closed-door conversation about their acclaimed movies led by Times film writer John Horn. Downtown at 6 p.m. the Music Producers Roundtable will be presented as a free and open-to-the-public event at the Grammy® Museum, where celebrated soundsmiths Alex Da Kid (Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," B.o.B.'s "Airplanes"), Ari Levine (B.o.B.'s "Nothin' on You," Cee Lo Green's "Forget You") and RedOne (Lady Gaga's "Alejandro," "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance") will join Times pop music critic Ann Powers for a behind-the-scenes look at their lauded songs as well as the trends impacting what the world listens to.

"Awards season is packed with drama, personalities and shifting dynamics, and The Times is uniquely positioned to create events that give industry insiders and insatiable fans new ways to get their awards fix," said The Times Assistant Managing Editor, Arts & Entertainment, Sallie Hofmeister. "We're thrilled that these esteemed directors and top music producers will be giving our readers their insights on the creative processes behind the year's most lauded movies and songs."

The Roundtables follow the successful fourth season of the Envelope Screening Series (http://theenvelope.com/screeningseries), which provides Academy and guild members access to contending films and revealing Q&A; sessions with their filmmakers and stars moderated by Times journalists. The Times' growing slate of entertainment-related events also saw the Young Hollywood Roundtable presented last November in conjunction with AFI Fest, with Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield of "The Social Network" and Oscar® nominee Carey Mulligan joining The Times' Amy Kaufman for an inside look at the art of acting and life behind the scenes as up-and-coming superstars. In addition, the Hero Complex Film Festival (http://latimes.com/herocomplex) and screenings of popular sci-fi and superhero classics and upcoming releases were unveiled in 2010, as well as the Culture Monster Roundtable (http://latimes.com/culturemonster) debut featuring Gustavo Dudamel and Placido Domingo last Fall.

These events complement Times coverage of every aspect of Hollywood, from the business behind the show in Company Town (http://latimes.com/companytown) to the past, present and future of movies in 24 Frames (http://latimes.com/24frames) and the Pop & Hiss of popular music www.latimes.com/pophiss). Since launching in 2005, The Envelope has been the indispensable and comprehensive source for award season news, analysis and red carpet coverage, including the must-read Awards Tracker (http://theenvelope.com/awards), Buzzmeter (http://theenvelope.com/buzzmeter) for predictions and the Ministry of Gossip (www.latimes.com/celebs) for the "gospel on celebrity pop and culture."
