A small fire in the boy's bathroom at Kecoughtan High School prompted a visit from the fire department. Ann Stephens-Cherry, a spokeswoman for Hampton public schools said that around 2:45 p.m., a student told a teacher there was smoke coming from the boy's bathroom.
The teacher doused the fire, which was set in the trash can, with water. "It was more smoke than fire," Stephens-Cherry said. No students were in danger in the incident, she said.
Stephens-Cherry said that the fire department was investigating the incident.
