Todd Martens joined the Los Angeles Times in July of 2007. Previously, Martens covered the music business for Billboard, where he was employed for more than five years and wrote the independent-focused column The Indies. In addition to Billboard and the Times, his work has appeared in Punk Planet, Alternative Press, the Chicago Sun-Times and Los Angeles New Times. He continues to torture himself by stubbornly rooting for the Chicago Cubs, and is pro-dog, but prefers cats.
