October 10, 2010 |  4:53 pm

Maroon 5
“I want all of Los Angeles to hear this!” Adam Levine exclaimed Friday night at the Greek Theatre, where his band, Maroon 5, played the first of two hometown shows over the weekend. Levine was urging the audience to sing along — and loudly — to “This Love,” one of Maroon 5's earliest hits, but his request served also as an indicator of the L.A. group's demographic ambition: At a moment when many musicians view stylistic specialization as a way to reach listeners overloaded with options, here's an act deeply devoted to the big-tent approach.

System of a Down's Serj Tankian, Spanish tenor Jose Carreras, L.A. rockers 30 Seconds to Mars, kid-friendly group the Wiggles and the MTV Movie Awards are among the highlights of the 2010 subscription concert series being announced jointly Friday by the Greek Theatre and Gibson Amphitheatre.

Offerings include many veterans making return visits to the two facilities as well as a number of newer acts injecting some freshness to the lineups.

Tankian will bring his ambitious "Elect the Dead" symphony, from his 2007 solo album, to the Greek on July 30 with accompaniment from a full orchestra. Carreras also will appear with symphonic backing June 26 when he plays the Greek for the first time in 15 years.

The Gibson's schedule again features a plethora of Latin music acts, this year including the L.A. Salsa Festival with Gilberto Santa Rosa, Luis Enrique, Willy Chirino and Oscar D'Leon (May 7), Conjunto Primavera (June 12), Pepe Aguilar (July 16-17), Alejandro Sanz (July 23-24), Marco Antonio Solis (Sept. 25) and the venue's annual fall series of appearances by Vicente Fernández (Nov. 12-14).
