Taxi company 'not concerned' at losing monopoly

Aerial Consolidated Transport, which runs Canberra Cabs, says it is not worried about losing its monopoly in the taxi industry.
A second taxi company, Cab Express, is expected to be on the road within eight weeks after being given accreditation.
The new company will have a traditional call centre, while Canberra Cabs will continue with its much criticised automated taxi booking system.
Aerial Consolidated Transport CEO Mark Bramston says he thinks using humans causes too many delays.
"We go back to a period when we didn't have it and only had to rely on human operators and we had an 18-minute waiting time on the phones and that's something no business can sustain," he said.
"The way we see things in Canberra, the taxi booking industry in Canberra couldn't survive without a form of automation."
