Welcome back to another installment of Name That Action Figure! In this revived weekly feature, I post a detail photo of an action figure and you all get a chance to win bragging rights for being able to name that figure in the comments section below!
Above you'll find this week's entry. Can you guess it?
Last week's big winners were Jason who nailed it right out of the gate, joined by Brothermidnight and The Bat by agreeing that last wek's figure was indeed the classic Captain Power!
Congrats to the three of you! There were some other great guesses (if I hadn't taken the pic myself, I too would have gone with the vintage Battlestar Galactica Gold Cylon), so let's see some more this week! Ready? Go!

A couple of weeks ago, I boldly declared that Lego Minifigures are technically action figures, and cited several reasons why. Since then, I have thought more and more about figures that blur the line of what is and what isn't an action figure.
In a previous article, we made an attempt to define just that, but one of the main points of the article is that there are always going to be gray areas. And as the nature of toy collecting and collectors' tastes change with the passing years, we have found ourselves in a time rife with oddball collectibles that are far from the traditional way we think of action figures, but still often possess many of the same aspects such as size, posability, collectibility and accessorizing.
So I ask this; Do we need a sub-category for action figures?
Where exactly do figures such as Lego Minifigs, Playmobil, Kubricks, Minimates, Mezitz and a host of other small, posable figures belong?
This thought was inspired by my discovery of a Flickr group dedicated to "... all figures no LARGER than 3" tall.
this group for all LEGO, playmobil, MEGABLOKS , C3 CONSTRUCTION , KUBRICKS , SUPER HERO SQUAD, MEZ-ITZ, BEARBRICKS & minimates fans." Considering that this group is rapidly nearing 10,000 pictures of small figures that stand somewhat alone from the traditional definition of action figures, I'm clearly not the only person thinking in this direction.
So let me know what you think. Do we need a sub-category? Why or why not? And what could we call it?

This is the Possibly the Cutest Toy I Have Ever Seen - Even though I'm not really one for blind-boxed vinyl toys, I may just have to get a few of these. You can get them, too, by going HERE and HERE. (Via Monsterforge)
Killer Kid Robot Customizers - The Beast Brothers - These two dudes know how to rock out a wicked custom Munny, and you can read all about it in this great interview. (via Kronikle)
MOTUC's The Faceless One - Mattycollector has posted some pics of the much-anticipated Faceless One. I'll personally be skipping this one, but the fans seem to be stoked. The most confusing part? The figure clearly has a face!
Shocker Toys Tick Review - Poe Ghostal gives a glowing review of Shacker Toys' Tick action figure. I know I've given Shocker some grief in the past, but maybe I need to get this one. And I'm still vowing to buy the heck out their upcoming Phantom figure! (via Poe Ghostal)
2011 NECA Gallery - Speaking of Poe Ghostal, his Flickr account is bursting with awesome toy pics, and this set gives us a great peek at what's coming up from NECA. Are those more Gremlins? Yes!
Ghostbusters Minimates - I'm trying really, really, really hard to not become a full blown Minimates addict, but they're not making it easy on me as these shots of the Minimates Ghostbusters Ghosts set prove. (via TNI)

Many moons ago, when I had about 4 readers, we played a weekly game in which I posted a pic of a small section of an action figure, and then invited everyone to take a guess. And I thought it was high time to bring it back! And be warned, I'm not going to make it easy on you!
So, our usual weekly feature, Vintage Action Figure of the Week, will take a break for a bit, and well switch gears as we play Name That Action Figure.
Go!
