Opportunity – Construction Set-Aside For SDVOSB

The Veterans Administration is releasing a construction project that is set-aside for service disabled veteran owned small businesses (SDVOSB) on April 27, 2011. Construction is to be at the St. Louis, MO VA Medical Center and involves general construction, concrete work, plumbing and electrical work. The construction work is to renovate the parking lot and is estimated to cost between $500,000 and $1,000,000. There will be a site visit on May 4 and proposals are due by May 27. The solicitation number is VA25511RP0325.

Boeing To Build 8 More Massive Bombs

The Air Force has awarded a contract to Boeing to build eight Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) bombs. The MOP is a 30,000 pound bomb that can penetrate up to 200 feet of reinforced concrete such as found in underground, hardened bunkers and tunnels. The MOP bomb along with associated triggers and delivery mechanisms costs $3.5 million each.
