Microsoft Releases Critical Update

In an uncommon event, Microsoft announced that they were releasing an out-of-band update for virtually every Windows operating system supported. This update was necessitated by a critical vulnerability that was made public and could allow a hacker to take over your computer. According to the Microsoft security bulletin, the following operating systems are affected: windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008 (both releases). If you don't have Windows set to "Automatic Updates," then you will need to update your Windows operating system by clicking on the "Windows Update" on the main window's menu.

In a recent report written by Bruce Hughes of AVG Technologies, he states that users surfing the Internet are four times more likely to come in contact with a social engineering type of attack than any virus, worm, Trojan, or other type of exploit. This means that people who rest on their laurels in the fact that they use Google's Chrome or Firefox and therefore they are immune to such malware attacks, are sadly mistaken. In fact, recent news sources and blogs have reported that hackers are now specifically targeting Google Chrome.
