Monday, April 25, 2011 Oprah Show Today - Oprah's Producers Uncensored

Wednesday April 27, 2011

After Oprah's producers started the conversation of their favorite moments from 25 years of The Oprah Winfrey Show one week before, it was hard to stop sharing as the series is sadly coming to a close after just 22 more episodes. From the nearly 30,000 guests who have appeared in the studio and more than one million audience members through the years, the producers selected just a handful of clips that made us laugh, cry, think about our lives differently, swoon, or change the course of our future forever.

It has been a continuous reminder by Oprah and through the show itself, that guest interviews and stories that are featured are not intended to be merely voyeuristic, but meant to begin a conversation, reveal to a viewer that they are not alone, take us on an adventure, or show us something we've never seen before. Oprah commended teams of her producers for the amount of work that they tirelessly put into each show segment they were responsible for that were featured as a favorite highlight. Some of the special episodes that were selected included the Mariah Carey fans in the audience after the show, getting the Ruby Slippers to the studio from the Smithsonian, the Deal or No Deal episode, Ricky Martin's visit, the food at The Texas State Fair, Christopher Plummer's charm from the reunion of The Sound of Music, and especially producer Ray Dotch speaking about the 200 abused men episodes.

Thursday, April 21, 2011 Oprah Show Today - 25 Years of Oprah and Gayle's Friendship

Sunday April 24, 2011

35 years ago Oprah met a production assistant while working in television in Baltimore. Welcoming the girl to spend the night because of a terrible snow storm, the two became fast friends. Staying up to talk all night, the conversation hasn't stopped after all these years as friends. Oprah and Gayle King's friendship has been covered in all directions with Gayle's 140 appearances on the show after her first just one month after the syndicated series began. Through the years Oprah and Gayle have experienced moments of laughter, charity, surprise, food, and adventure, and they came together for the last time on this episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show to share their memories of their times together.

Relying on countless hours of footage and personal memories, Oprah and Gayle relived moments from early episode of the show to more recent roles and adventures. In 2004 Oprah and Gayle went back in time to experience life in the colonial days - a trip Gayle wasn't as excited about. Her excitement overflowed in 2005 when Josh Groban appeared in her office as part of the Wildest Dreams tour. Aside from the road trip and camping adventure, Oprah and Gayle greatest outing was the Ultimate Spa Getaway at Mirval in Arizona in May of 2007 where Gayle attempted to face her fear of heights. In addition to the many experiences the best friends have had together, Gayle has also served as a food and news correspondent for the show - a role we will all miss, but we can find her everyday on the OWN Network.
