Presenting a Michael Jurist Distinguished Alumni Roundtable Series (MJDARTS) event featuring Jess Rimington, Osman Ashai and Indra Sen, all F '08.

Rimington is the Executive Director of the One World Youth Project. She is a global advocate for youth participation in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, educational reform, the value of cultural exchange and social/environmental justice. In 2002, Jess founded a community organization called the Cape Youth Council in Sustainability, which now includes students from 11 different schools. In 2008 she was named a 'Rising Talent' of Women’s Forum for the Economy & Society Global Meeting.

Ashai works for Ashoka building social-business partnerships and managing Ashoka's relationships with partners seeking to advance entrepreneurship in Muslim majority countries and the Arab World. An IPOL student at SFS, he completed the Bridge Program at Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business. Prior to Ashoka Osman interned at the Saban Center for Middle East
Peace at Brookings Institution. While at Georgetown, he co-founded Kashmir Corps, a summer program for volunteers to serve the health care, education and economic development needs of Kashmir's citizen-sector.

Sen co-created Inspire Dreams with two other Georgetown alumni immediately after graduation. The program runs day camps for kids ages 10-18 in Palestinian refugee camps during summers and winter breaks.

The Michael Jurist Distinguished Alumni Roundtable Series (MJDARTS), named in memory of Michael Jurist (SFS ’07), is designed to expose School of Foreign Service undergraduates to the rich and varied accomplishments of SFS alumni who return to campus in an informal, round table setting to speak about where their degree has taken them and their personal experiences as well as the successes and challenges they have faced since graduation.

Michael was about to embark on a new career at Deutsche Bank's New York branch following his graduation from SFS in May 2007. His successes were many, including membership on the Dean's list and an Advanced Certificate in European Studies. He was a member of Pi Delta Phi (National French Honor Society) and Phi Alpha Theta (National History Honor Society) and served as the Chair of Georgetown University Lecture Fund during the final year he was involved. To focus only on Michael's academic accomplishments would not reveal the depth and breadth of his shining spirit. He loved tennis and travel and possessed a generosity of spirit which he gave effortlessly and gracefully to all he encountered during his brief life. His intellectual curiosity led him to always ask why, while his sense of adventure always asked why not. It is this particular combination of inquisitiveness and generosity that his family hopes to perpetuate with MJDARTS.

MJDARTS is made possible through the generosity of the family and friends of Michael Evan Jurist. Michael's sudden death in 2007 had a tremendous impact on the many lives he touched at Georgetown, in his native Canada, and throughout the world. Each roundtable event is free and open on a limited basis.
