Around the galleries

The exhibition of painting and sculpture by the exceptionally talented artist Halim Yacoub currently on display at Duroub gallery in Garden City is a must-go show. He showcases his latest creations that are 15 oil paintings, 15 sketches as well as 20 pieces of brass sculpture in different sizes. He chose the female as a delicate human figure and the horse as a graceful animal. In his statues, he doesn't stick to the laws of sculpture but still anatomy values are his final reference. As a sculptor, he occupies a very unique status in the contemporary Egyptian sculpture and specifically as a miniature sculptor.

His works are characterised by the delicacy of sense and his brilliant ability to sum up elements and movements. In his new production of relief paintings, he tackled themes that are based on the perfect study of the curves of the female body with its grace and delicacy. In his statues that depict birds and animals, he preserves the intensity of the block although he reshapes them in delicate surfaces. Those who are interested in the artist's works can also visit the Modern Egyptian Art Museum where some of his works are on permanent display as part of the museum's acquisitions.

The exhibition runs through 31 January.
