Pakistani Public Opinion

A comprehensive poll released last week by the International Republican Institute details the pre-election landscape of public opinion in Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto and the Pakistani People’s Party (PPP) lead in the polls, followed by Nawaz Sharif.

Though absent from most American media coverage, “bread and butter issues” of inflation, unemployment, or poverty appear to the top concern for 77% of Pakistanis. IRI has published both a summary of their findings as well as the poll results themselves.
