Demand for Egyptian labour down from 2010
Report from Information and Decision Support Center shows 50 per cent drop

The demand for Egyptian labour has fallen by half in the last year, according to a new government report.
The report, a monthly bulletin released by the Information and Decision Support Center by the Egyptian cabinet, says that the index for Egyptian labour dropped from 457 in January 2010 to 201 in January 2011.
The internal demand index of Egyptian labour went down from 2037 to 474. The demand index for Egyptian labour for those with a high education degree and post graduates plummeted from 401 to 282. The situation was even worse for those with an intermediate or above intermediate education which went from 858 to 170.
The only index that did not suffer badly, was the external demand index for Egyptian labour which went from 528 to 402.
According to the IDCS report, the job vacancies in the National Bulletin of employed decreased slightly from 19.08 thousand jobs in January 2010 to 18.06 thousand in 2011. The local vacancies announced in Egyptian newspapers however, fell from 21.32 thousand in 2010 to 8.56 thousand in 2011. The external vacancies announced in Egyptian newspapers also dropped from 2.49 to 1.90 over the same period.
