It was a comment by the award-winning director Peter Kosminsky that illustrated so well the power of TV drama: he recalled a senior editor from BBC News telling him his film Warriors had done more to illustrate the issues surrounding the conflict in the former Yugoslavia than most of the news coverage.

Peter was taking part in a BBC College of Journalism debate on how TV drama reflects social issues with Dr Claire Wardle, BBC College of Journalism; Simon Ashdown, lead writer and series consultant on EastEnders; Professor Stephen Coleman, University of Leeds; and Richard McKerrow, creative director at factual entertainment specialist Love Productions.
