How to Use Advanced Charting: Moving Averages
BigCharts allows you to place up to three moving averages on a chart. By default, the 2nd and 3rd averages are multiples of the period of your first moving average. However, you can override the default values by entering your own values.
Example: To see a 10-day, 50-day and 200-day moving average, you would select "SMA (3-line)" from the moving averages field - under the "indicators" option - and enter "10,50,200" in the box to the right of the SMA drop-down box.
The averages correlate to the time frequency on your chart. For example, on a 1 day/hourly chart, the frequency would be hours, thus, the 9 would be an SMA based on 9 hours. This is based on what we show for the Last price.
