Siemens buys Bonus Energy

The German company Siemens buys the Danish wind
turbine manufacturer Bonus Energy A/S.
The sale of the Danish company is necessary due to the financial
challenges of future wind power projects, says Bonus.
"The wind power projects are growing - especially the offshore
projects. We have recently made a bid on an offshore project which
is larger than our turnover," says Palle Nørgaard, CEO of Bonus
Energy.
“Siemens has the industrial strength, the market force and a
global sales department. So we consider Siemens as the perfect
match," says Palle Nørgaard.
Bonus Energy currently ranks fifth among the world biggest
turbine manufacturers and has an annual turn over of approximately
300 million euro.
Siemens energy division called Siemens Power Generation is the
real buyer of Bonus and one of the worlds leading companies dealing
with energy production. In 2003, the company had a turnover of 7
billion euro.
In spite of the German take over Palle Nørgaard expects that
Bonus' future will be in Denmark.
"Bonus' head quarter in Denmark is becoming the head quarter of
Siemens wind power activities. And we are expecting the company
will grow due to the takeover," elaborates Palle Nørgaard.
Siemens names its new division "Wind Power" and the new German
owner expects to further develop Bonus' current activities.
"We can build on Bonus' advanced technology as well as on their
highly skilled and motivated employees. Combined with the financial
strength of Siemens and our global sales and marketing activities,
this will open up totally new and promising prospects for our
business and thus also for the employees of Bonus Energy A/S,” says
the president of Siemens Power Generation, Klaus Voges in a press
release from Bonus.
If the Danish competition authorities approve the sale, the
takeover will be effectuated in December 2004.
