Men's team pursuit final at approx. 1915 GMT.
Men's team sprint final at approx. 2045 GMT.

Britain's men's team pursuiters look to prise the world title back out of Australian hands on Wednesday, but they will do battle without star riders Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas, who have departed the team ahead of a summer of road-racing commitments.

In a frenetic opening night of racing, the men's team sprint title will also be decided. Sir Chris Hoy is expected to form part of the British team - Hoy rode to bronze alongside Ross Edgar and Jason Kenny last year.

Germany are defending champions while France, led by Gregory Bauge, are strong contenders. Bauge's team beat the Germans to gold at last month's Track World Cup in Manchester, at which Britain again claimed bronze.

Thursday 24 March

Watch live coverage on the BBC Sport website and red button.
Women's team pursuit final at approx. 1910 GMT.
Women's team sprint final at approx. 1940 GMT.

It's the turn of the women's team pursuiters on Thursday. The British team lost their world title to Australia last year and, like the men, must defeat the Aussies to get it back - but New Zealand are also a factor in the race.

The women's team sprint also reaches a conclusion. Can Victoria Pendleton and Jess Varnish, who is expected to start alongside Pendleton having been selected ahead of Shanaze Reade, get among the medals? Australia, led by Anna Meares, are again the defending champions - watch for Pendleton against Meares as one of the clashes of the week.

Friday 25 March

Men's sprint final from approx. 1945 GMT.
Men's omnium elimination race at approx. 2045 GMT.

Jason Kenny and Sir Chris Hoy are fierce rivals for men's sprint honours within the GB team, but they now face the world's finest in the event on Friday.

Kenny edged Hoy at last month's Track World Cup in Manchester, but gold went to France. No Briton made the top four in this event last year, a result upon which they will look to improve markedly this time around.

Meanwhile, the men's omnium - a new Olympic event for the London Games - begins on Friday with the opening three races of the six-discipline competition.

Ed Clancy is expected to star for Britain as the defending world champion. Watch out for the elimination race towards the end of the night, seen by many as the omnium's most exciting event.

Saturday 26 March

Watch live coverage on the BBC Sport website and on BBC One from 1415 to 1545 GMT.
Women's sprint final from approx. 1435 GMT.
Men's keirin final at approx. 1515 GMT.

The men's keirin has become Sir Chris Hoy's strongest event of late, as demonstrated by his ability to roar ahead of the pack in February's Manchester Track World Cup, avoiding the spectacular crash which drove a splinter of track through the leg of Malaysian rival Azizulhasni Awang.

Hoy defends his keirin world title on Saturday, while Victoria Pendleton will be out to retain her women's sprint crown in the same session. Pendleton defeated China's Guo Shuang last year, but must be at her best to repeat the feat, especially with Australia's Anna Meares also a constant threat.

The men's omnium then concludes with the last of the six races - the kilometre time trial.

Sunday 27 March

Watch live coverage on the BBC Sport website and on BBC Two from 1500 to 1730 BST.
Women's omnium finale at approx. 1550 BST.
Women's keirin final at approx. 1635 BST.

Lizzie Armitstead having withdrawn through injury, Sunday is expected to gift 18-year-old Laura Trott the chance to shine for Britain as the women's omnium reaches a climax.

Armitstead finished second behind Canada's Tara Whitten at last year's World Championships, staged in Denmark.

And the women's keirin may offer Victoria Pendleton, second in last year's event behind Lithuanian rider Simona Krupeckaite, another chance at a medal.

Further dates to follow.
