If you are not signed in this information cannot be transferred from one device to another (e.g. from your laptop to your mobile phone).
I want to use BBC iPlayer when I am signed in
If you use your BBCiD to sign in when you use BBC iPlayer we will:
save your favourite BBC iPlayer programmes and categories; and
provide you with automatic programme recommendations based on your previous viewing.

I want to make programme recommendations and comments that people I know can see
You must be signed in to make programme recommendations and comments. These recommendations and comments will be visible to other BBC users or contacts and friends from social network services you connect to. At no time do we know, or store, your login details for those external accounts and you can remove the connection to these accounts at anytime.
I want to download BBC programmes to my device using BBC iPlayer Desktop
If you use BBC iPlayer Desktop we send cookies to your device. Please see the cookies section of Privacy Policy for more information about cookies. We do this so that you can:
save your favourite BBC iPlayer programmes and categories;
receive automatic programme recommendations from BBC iPlayer; and
have your favourite programmes automatically downloaded to your device.
