Jessica Ennis will compete at Grand Prix event in New York

World heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis is to compete at the Diamond League Grand Prix meeting in New York in June.

Organisers said Ennis will appear along with the likes of the 2007 100m world champion Tyson Gay and the 2004 400m Olympic champion Jeremy Wariner.

Ennis had to withdraw from the European Indoor Championships earlier this month following a persistent ankle injury.

The events in which Ennis will compete at the Grand Prix have yet to be established.

Ennis will use the competition to prepare for the 2011 World Championships in South Korea later this year, as well as the London Olympics.

Among the other leading athletes to appear at the Grand Prix, to be held at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island, will be world champion high jumper Blanka Vlasic.
