As Rumors Continue to Fly, Some New Ones Surface

Friday April 29, 2011

Here is the latest inside gossip:

GH is a goner, but when, no one knows.

Actors are baling left and right. There were more paycuts, and it is rumored that two enormous stars of the show are leaving after their story arcs are completed. Also, the old rumor that one female star is being let go and the other will be offered recurring is still around. The rumor that Ingo's days are numbered also still exists.

This is a new one -- if the show announces a finale date, Vanessa Marcil may stick it out. Another new rumor -- one of the young women on the show has asked to be released.

Count on nothing I just wrote, don't believe ABC, don't believe Disney, and keep contacting the sponsors and Disney.

If you haven't contacted Disney, a Disney rep apparently told some soap fans to "read a book." If that doesn't cause you to contact them, nothing will. There is also a rumor that may be good news, but I don't want to publish it and disappoint people when and if it doesn't happen.

If anyone has any sponsor news or anything they've heard from a reliable source, please feel free to post it in the comments section.

Tyler Leaves 'General Hospital' Soon

Tyler Christopher has twittered that his last day on General Hospital will be May 19.

I understood that something is supposed to happen to Nikolas; the role is not being recast. Whatever happens, Tyler and Nikolas will be missed. We hope the new series is a success and that he goes on to do a great deal more.

Does this mean no more Cassadines?

More Woes: Heirs of 'GH' Creators Suing ABC

The heirs of Frank and Doris Hursley, who created General Hospital some 47 years ago, are suing ABC for unpaid revenues.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hursley daughters Bridget Dobson, Deborah Hardy, and Polly Keusnik have filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles, which claims that under a deal made with ABC, they are entitled to 10% of General Hospital's net profits. They say that ABC is not living up to its agreement.  They are suing for breach of contract and breach of faith and fair dealing.

It seems that ABC soaps are beleaguered wherever we turn. I hope the Hursley heirs receive their money. We owe Frank and Doris Hursley a great deal.
