I get some blank looks from people when I mention Lassen, even if they're California natives. Mount Lassen is California's Mt. St. Helens, an active volcano that last erupted in 1915 and the southernmost peak in the Cascades. The area is lightly visited, making it a good place to head for when everything else is full of tourists.
