Monday March 28, 2011

Compression UnderwearShapewear, also known as compression underwear, may seem like a foreign concept to the average man. And many men may think these products are reserved strictly for women or when you are recovering from a surgery. Au contraire, men's shapewear has gained tremendous popularity and for good reason. Men are wearing shapewear and compression underwear for sports, better circulation, better posture, and many other reasons as I have outlined in this article.

Sunday March 27, 2011
In light of Japan's current struggles, I wanted to pay tribute to the Japanese fashion scene and highlight some designers and their spring/summer 2011 collections since the 12th Annual Japanese Fashion Week (JFW) for fall/winter 2011/2012, has been canceled and the fall collections will not be shown.

Men's Underwear: An Economic Indicator

Thursday March 10, 2011

Men's UnderwearExperts at Kiplinger (an online, print and visual publishing group of business and financial advisors), make an interesting connection between men's underwear sales and the economy. In 2009, at the height of our economic bust, underwear sales were down nearly 2.5%. Kiplinger financial experts attribute the connection based on their claims that men will replace their underwear less frequently when jobs are scarce (as with many other things, I am sure). Now in 2011, underwear sales are leveling out, revealing just one of the potential positive signs of an economic recovery. So it appears that shopping for new underwear will give our economy a much needed boost (it's a stretch, I know, but I like any excuse to shop). Photo: D-BASE/Getty Images

Top Picks in Men's Budget Friendly Polo Shirts

Wednesday March 9, 2011

Gap PoloIt was René Lacoste, the French tennis champion, who designed the now iconic polo shirt. Of course it was a tennis shirt, not a polo shirt, back when Mr. Lacoste first wore his shirt to the 1926 U.S. Open championship. In 1933 he began to mass-market his design and now it seems every clothing line makes some sort of polo shirt. Of course there are the usual suspects including the Lacoste label that are well known for their polo shirts but they aren't cheap. However, you can find other polo shirts that are just as nice and much more budget friendly. Here are my top picks in men's budget friendly polo shirts.

Trend Colors for Spring 2011

Friday March 4, 2011

Spring 2011 ColorsFor decades, the Pantone Color Institute has forecasted the color trends not only in fashion, but in all areas of design such as interior design, graphic design, industrial design, etc. The institute has taken leadership globally on each season's color palette and they work collaboratively with the design industry as a whole. For spring 2011, Pantone describes the color forecast as an "exotic journey [to] exotic destinations like Africa, India, Peru and Turkey." These bold tones can be tricky to wear. Here are some examples of trend colors for spring 2011 with practical and affordable suggestions on how to incorporate them into your wardrobe. Image: Pantone

Best Men's Body Washes

Thursday March 3, 2011
Thankfully, body washes and shower gels have replaced the soggy bar soaps we were used to a few years back. And many manufacturers of skin care lines have produced corresponding body washes and shower gels that use quality ingredients, which don't leave the skin with a soapy residue or feeling dry. Fortunately men have choices of their own with products that are made with men in mind. Here are some of what I consider to be the best men's body washes.

Best Dressed Man at the Oscars: Christian Bale

Monday February 28, 2011

Christian BaleOne of the big trends for Oscar night was black on black for guys. That is to say a black tux with black shirt and tie, which happens to be one of my favorite looks. Oscar winner Christian Bale wore it best with a Gucci three-piece shawl collar tux (shawl collars being another popular trend at these award shows) and slim black tie. Not a fan of the beard but I'll assume it's for a current role, so we'll let him off for that detail. Christian also added a little bling with some Harry Winston cuff links. Other guys who sported the all black ensemble were director Len Wiseman, teen sensation Justin Bieber, comedian Russell Brand and cinematographer Wally Pfister. Jeremy Renner gets 2nd runner up for best dressed for his classic '50s inspired look that was flawless.
