Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel started his defence of the World Formula 1 Championship by winning the season-opening Australian Grand Prix with a comfortable victory in Melbourne. He led home Lewis Hamilton, who took a solid second place, while an excellent drive from Vitaly Petrov secured third.

The Ivorian international footballer, Kolo Toure (pictured above) who plays for English Premiership side Manchester City has been suspended by the club following a positive drugs test. The defender in the meantimes now seeking legal advice over how to respond to the news, which could lead to a ban of up to two years.

Comfortable But Close Win for Libya Against Benin

LIBYA, currently sharing top billing in Group C of the 2012 Africa Cup of nations qualifiers with Mozambique, defeated Benin 3-2 at the June 11 Stadium in Tripoli Wednesday in an international friendly serving both them and the losers as preparation for their third group match against Comoros at the last weekend of the month. Polish Formula 1 star Robert Kubica, 26, has suffered fractures to his left arm and left leg after a high-speed rally crash in Italy, and is doubtful for the start of the Formula 1 season on March 13. He is reported to have crashed into a church wall and was air-lifted to a hospital near Genoa.

Libya is all set to host the 17th African Under 20 Football Championship, Mr Muhammad al-Amari, the head of the event’s organising committee told a news conference in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

This is Ittihad's widest gap this far in the season, and they also have a game in hand.
