How to get BBC News on your mobile

The BBC News website is available on mobile phones and other wireless handheld devices.

Go to the web browser on your device and type in www.bbc.co.uk/news/mobile

You can then save this page as a bookmark or favourite, so you can find it again easily.

If you prefer, we can send you a text message containing the link. Simply text the word News to 81010 and we will send you the web address. Please note that text messages to the BBC cost 10-15p. You may receive two different messages to ensure you have the best format for your handset, but there will be no extra cost.

If you are not sure whether you can access the internet on your device, check with your mobile network provider.

Depending on the contract you have, certain costs for accessing the internet on your phone - usually referred to as data charges - may apply.

If you are not sure about the potential charges for accessing the internet on your phone, please ask your mobile network provider. You may find some costs are included in your existing price plan or that you can opt for a 'data package' or 'data packet' monthly fee that gives reduced charges for accessing the internet

The BBC does not charge you to access mobile content.

Our aim is to develop a set of core public service apps that bring some of the BBC's most popular, distinctive and original content to mobile in an easy to use and convenient way.

Blackberry Apps

We have developed a series of launcher apps for Blackberry phones to give you quick access to the BBC News, BBC Sport and BBC mobile websites on Blackberry series 4.3 and above phones.

As some BlackBerry connections are routed overseas, BlackBerry users occasionally have problems accessing BBC content that is only available inside the UK. The application will also help to stop this from happening and make sure that, if you're in the UK, you can access everything that you ought to be able to access.

To install these apps on your Blackberry phone all you need to do is type this address into the web browser on your Blackberry and click on the icons to install the apps

If you have a BlackBerry Bold 2 (9700) or Storm 2 (9520/9550) you can download a shortcut app for BBC iPlayer from this page as well.

We will be uploading these apps to Blackberry App World so you can download them straight to your phone from the Blackberry app store.

BBC News also offers a breaking news SMS alert service to help you keep up to date with the latest major UK and global events. Messages cost 10p to 12p each.
