MADISON - There is no declared winner in the race for Wisconsin Supreme Court. Justice David Prosser leads his opponent, JoAnne Kloppenburg by only a few hundred votes. That's with 99% of precincts in.

Kloppenburg had little name recognition until some opponents of a new collective bargaining law rebranded the race as a referendum on Governor Scott Walker and the Republicans. Now both candidates are waiting for the official results.

While the party for JoAnne Kloppenburg's campaign may be over, the end result is still not known.

Hundreds of JoAnne Kloppenburg supporters spent hours at the Edgewater Hotel in Madison, waiting for a victory.

"It's better than going home at 10 o'clock with the other result, with the other person winning," said Kate Morand of Madison.

When the party went into the early hours of the morning, the candidate told her supporters to get some sleep, results won't be known for at least another day.

"I want to just thank you all for all the hard work, all the enthusiasm, all your hope, all your energy, all the good energy you've brought tonight," said Kloppenburg. "It's not over yet we're still hopeful."

"This is going to come down to one of the closest races in state history," said State Rep. Peter Barca, D-Kenosha, Minority Leader. "I mean it'll probably come down to a couple hundred votes. Obviously there's def going to be a recount, because it'll probably maybe come down to a margin of one tenth of one percent. It's just amazing."

The Kloppenberg campaign says with the margin so small, it's unlikely the race will be called Wednesday.
