Wolves winger Stephen Hunt to undergo hernia surgery

7 April 11 21:09 GMT

Wolves winger Stephen Hunt requires a hernia operation and could miss up to three weeks as Mick McCarthy's side bid to avoid relegation.

Hunt, who has missed the last two months with a calf injury, played for the reserves on Monday.

"Hernias are sometimes two or three weeks now but we will see how he goes," said McCarthy, whose side is second from bottom, a point away from safety.

"If he recovers he'll be available for the last few games."

Republic of Ireland international Hunt joined Wolves from Hull in the summer but was unable to make his debut until October because of a foot problem.

The 29-year-old winger has not played for the Wolves first team since injuring his calf during the 1-0 FA Cup defeat by Stoke on 30 January.
