OUR WORK ON THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS’ WEBSITE AND FACEBOOK APP WON US THE BT DIGITAL AWARD IN 2007.
Life began in 1998. The scene: the small but perfectly formed offices above Mr Bongo Record store in Soho, London. Fresh from working on the Economist website, Tim began 3ev to provide web and intranet services to a swiftly growing client list including the European Bank (EBRD), The Economist and Macmillan Publishing alongside delivering ecommerce solutions for a multitude of Soho music stores.
2002 saw us start our involvement with TYPO3, the Open Source Content Management System (CMS). We quickly became recognised for providing large solutions for the public sector including the NHS, the ODPM and several local councils. Since then our TYPO3 work has been central to what we do, our involve front-end interface for TYPO3 makes everyday management of any TYPO3 site a breeze.
In 2003 we started writing on internet technology and design in the internet press, and we’re constantly writing on web technologies and best practices, design, UX.
In 2004 we moved to Brighton because we wanted to be beside the seaside where we have been happy for the past six years.
Because we’re a little vain, we like recognition. Our work on The Chemical Brothers’ website and Facebook app won us the BT Digital Award in 2007. In 2008 Google featured us in their “Google Maps” booklet for the work we’ve done with Google Maps.
In March 2009, Tim was out looking for a new office, when disaster struck: A BMW ploughed into his car and took the door off. He took it to be fixed and ended up buying the car body shop as the new 3ev offices. After some crafty planning victories and months of building work the company eventually moved into its new home in the beautifully cobbled mews in Hove.
Life is better now, we have a big sofa, a woodburner, an obscenely powerful soundsystem, and we all work around the same table.
Our growing team comprises a mix of the young, gifted and geeky.
“We moved to 3ev in December 2009, and since then we have found them always responsive and helpful. They migrated our site from our old supplier and have since proved themselves as experts in TYPO3. They always come up with creative ideas for complex problems, which reflects their deep understanding of TYPO3 and the tools they are using…” Naiara Martinez Communications Manager, Bruegel
