Mahmoud Abdel-Rahim, or “Ganash” as he’s known, signed a five-season contract with the Premier League leaders Zamalek on Wednesday, transferring from his Alexandrian team, Olympic, with a fee that amounts to LE 1.5 million (roughly $250 thousand).

“Wearing the Zamalek jersey was always a dream for me,” Ganash was quoted as saying on Zamalek‘s official website on Thursday, adding “I don’t believe yet that I became a member of Zamalek team and  a substitute to the great goalie, Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed, under the leadership of the twins Ibrahim and Hossam Hassan.”

Regarding team captain, Abdel Wahed, Zamalek coach Hossam Hassan confirmed that the international goalkeeper will lead his teammates in day 16 of the Egyptian League against Haras El Hodoud.

Abdel-Wahed’s clash with the coaching staff was smoothed over after he apologised and withdrew sthe complaint that he and other eleven members lodged to the Egyptian Football Association because they hadn’t received their salaries.

Zamalek are on the top of the Egyptian League table with 32 points; 3 points ahead of their arch-rivals, Ahly, waiting for their day 16 match against Haras El Hodoud.
