Crown Prince Sultan chairs weekly Cabinet meeting

Deputy Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz chaired the weekly Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today. Prince Sultan began the meeting by congratulating the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and the people of Saudi Arabia on his safe arrival in Morocco to complete his physical therapy and recuperation. Crown Prince Sultan also expressed the Kingdom’s appreciation to King Mohammed VI and the people of Morocco for the warm reception they have accorded King Abdullah.
Crown Prince Sultan briefed the Cabinet on the contacts and consultations that took place during the last week, including telephone calls King Abdullah received from Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi, President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen, Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah of Kuwait, and Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi of Italy. Prince Sultan also briefed the Cabinet on the meetings he held with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Khalid Shameem Wynne, and British Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sir Tom Phillips.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja said the Cabinet listened to reports on the latest regional and international developments, lauding in this regard the decisions taken by the Second Economic, Developmental and Social Summit held in Egypt. The Cabinet expressed pleasure on hosting the Third Economic, Developmental and Social Summit in Riyadh in January 2013.
The Cabinet renewed the Kingdom’s call on the international community, the United Nations, and especially the Quartet Committee, to follow a comprehensive strategic approach towards an immediate halt of all settlement projects in the Occupied Territories. The settlement are the greatest obstacles placed by Israel on the peace process. The Cabinet warned that such practices would stop peace initiatives and surround most West Bank cities and make it virtually impossible for the existence of a viable state of Palestine.
The Cabinet condemned the terrorist bombings in Iraq over the past few days which resulted in loss of life and injuries of many innocent people, and expressed the condolences of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Iraqi leadership and people, and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The Cabinet discussed a number of economic, scientific and cultural activities currently held in the Kingdom, including the Fifth Global Competitiveness Forum. The Cabinet highlighted the security and stability as well as the economic, regulatory and investment reforms witnessed by Saudi Arabia that earned the Kingdom high levels in international reports on investment.
Minister Khoja said the Cabinet issued a number of decisions as follows:
It approved a convention for transfer of convicted persons with deprivation of freedom sentences between Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of the Sudan, signed in Tunis on 17/03/2010; approved a memorandum on scientific and educational cooperation between the Saudi Ministry of Higher Education and the Turkish Ministry of Higher Education, signed in Ankara on 10/03/2010; approved the final account of the Saudi Development Fund for the Fiscal Year 1427/1428H; approved an agreement on news cooperation between the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and the Indian Trust Press of India, signed in Riyadh on 28 February 2010.
After reviewing the report submitted by the President of Saudi Capital Commission on the nominations for the memberships in Saudi Capital Market Company, TADAWUL. board, the Cabinet approved the reformation of the Saudi Capital Market Company for a three-year term with immediate effect:
1. Mansour Al-Maiman, as a representative of the Ministry of Finance
2. Abdullah A. Al Hamoudi, as a representative of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry
3. Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Hamidy, as a representative of Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency
4. Abdulrahman Yahya Al-Yahya, representatives of licensed stock-brokerage companies
5. Basheer bin Muhammad Bakhit
6. Ahmed Al-Khateeb
7. Eng. Saud M. Al-Daweesh
8. Dr. Sami bin Mushin Barum
