King Abdullah receives U.S. Secretary of Defense

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and an accompanying delegation at his palace in Riyadh today. At the outset of the meeting, Secretary Gates conveyed the greetings of U.S. President Barack Obama, which the King reciprocated. Then, the two sides discussed current events in the Middle East, as well as bilateral cooperation.

The session was attended by Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal; Chief of General Intelligence Prince Miqren bin Abdulaziz; Assistant Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General for Military Affairs Prince Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz; Commander of the National Guard Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Advisor to the King Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Saudi Ambassador to the U.S. Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir; and U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom James B. Smith.
