In late October 2010, USIP's Virginia Bouvier traveled to Geneva, Switzerland, where nearly two dozen members of Mediation Support Network (MSN) organizations gathered at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (CHD) headquarters to discuss “Assessing Good Mediation and Mediation Support Practice — Outcome and Impact.” The meetings were conducted under Chatham House Rules, and all remarks from the MSN sessions were off-the-record and not for attribution.

USIP experts traveled to the Korean Peninsula for a pair of conferences co-convened by USIP's Center for Mediation and Conflict Resolution. The discussions addressed rising tensions in the region and explored ways to reduce risk and build confidence between the parties.

The Cross-Border Dialogue Initiative empowers border communities to solve their own problems non-violently and to advocate for their own needs and aspirations non-violently with their own governments and with international actors.

USIP conducted a series of Electoral Violence Prevention (EVP) workshops across Sudan from June 2009 to February 2010.   The workshops were well attended by representatives of diverse sectors of Sudanese society (including teachers, students, civil society, police and clergy).  In addition, a group of facilitators from both north and south Sudan was trained to conduct further EVP training and education sessions within their local communities as well as numerous public fora on EVP were conducted throughout the country.
