Prescription Drug Abuse in Appalachia

Appalachia has long been afflicted by the scourge of prescription drug abuse, with Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky experiencing some of the highest overdose rates in the nation. Scioto County (pronounced sy-OH-tuh), where the drug of choice is the painkiller OxyContin, has consistently had some of the highest overdose rates.
