9 P.M. (The Weather Channel) CHANGING PLANET In honor of Earth Day, Tom Brokaw moderates a town-hall-style symposium at Yale University to encourage student dialogue about climate change and its impact on health, economic opportunity, and moral and religious values, as well as to brainstorm about solutions. Sponsored by NBC Learn, the educational arm of NBC News; the National Science Foundation; and Discover magazine, the meeting brings together more than 100 students with Rajendra K. Pachauri, who heads the Yale Climate and Energy Institute; Billy Parish, a founder of the Energy Action Coalition, a youth advocacy organization working on climate change issues; Katharine Hayhoe, a research associate professor of geosciences at Texas Tech University; and Linda J. Fisher, vice president for safety, health and environment at DuPont. (Above, drought in the Southwest, among the topics addressed in the program.)

8:45 A.M. (Vme) ANIMALITOS EXPLORADORES Translated as “Wild Animal Baby Explorers,” this first Spanish-language children’s television show from the National Wildlife Federation introduces five natural-science investigators — Benita the Beaver, Skip the Rabbit, Izzy the Owl, Sammy the Skunk and Miss Sally the Salamander — who will show youngsters that every backyard, playground and flower bed is worthy of exploration. Other Earth Day shows for children include “Jake and the Never Land Pirates,” at 8:30, and “Handy Manny,” at 9:30, on Disney Junior; and “Sid the Science Kid,” at 11 a.m., and “Arthur,” at 3 p.m., on Channel 13.

9 A.M. (CUNY) HOME (2009) The French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand flies above 54 countries with his high-definition cameras — circling the skyscrapers of Dubai and plunging into the Grand Canyon — to document the imperfect stewardship of the planet by humans. Narrated by Glenn Close and released on June 5, 2009, World Environment Day, the film, like all of Mr. Arthus-Bertrand’s work from the last decade, is carbon offset: the amount of carbon dioxide emissions generated by the making of the movie is calculated and then offset by money donated to provide clean energy to those who don’t have any. An interview with Mr. Arthus-Bertrand follows. Both will be repeated at 3 and 10 p.m.

3 P.M. (NBC) THE NATE BERKUS SHOW In “Living Well With Less: The Upside to Downsizing,” Mr. Berkus challenges a family of five to live in a house that is the size of their current kitchen.

8 P.M. (Nickelodeon) THE BIG HELP EARTH DAY Victoria Justice, Daniella Monet and Leon Thomas of “Victorious” will host this prime-time programming block from Louisiana, where they helped restore the St. Bernard Parish wetlands outside New Orleans. The singer Kesha will guest star in “Victorious,” at 8, followed by a green-theme episode of “Big Time Rush,” at 8:30. Preschool Earth Day programs will begin at 7 a.m.

8:30 P.M. (The Documentary Channel) THE LAST DAYS OF SHISHMAREF (2008) Jan Louter travels to a village on Sarichef, an Alaskan island south of the Arctic Circle, where the traditional life of the Inupiaq Eskimos is jeopardized as erosion from coastal storms forces them to move inland. The film is preceded at 8 by “Doc Talk: Earth Day Special,” featuring interviews with the directors Davis Guggenheim of “An Inconvenient Truth” (2006), Ondi Timoner of “Cool It” (2010) and Chris Paine of “Revenge of the Electric Car” (2011).

9 P.M. (Current TV) MAN VERSUS EARTH The explorer Sam Branson, the son of Richard Branson, consults with scientists about extreme snowfall and experiences being buried alive with an Avalung, a device designed to help those trapped in the snow to breathe.

9 P.M. (HBO) TALKING FUNNY Ricky Gervais, Louis C. K., Jerry Seinfeld and Chris Rock discuss comedy: what it means to be a successful comedian and just how far the boundaries of taste can be pushed to get a laugh.

9 P.M. (CBS) GIRLS’ NIGHT OUT: SUPERSTAR WOMEN OF COUNTRY The Judds, Loretta Lynn, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, Reba McEntire and Carrie Underwood are honored in song by performers, including Jason Aldean, Ronnie Dunn, Rascal Flatts, Vince Gill and Blake Shelton.

9:30 P.M. (13) LIVE FROM THE ARTISTS DEN In a concert taped in February in Nashville, Robert Plant and his Band of Joy, featuring Patty Griffin and Buddy Miller, play new works as well as hits from Led Zeppelin.

10 P.M. (Science) BUILD IT BIGGER Danny Forster explores Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, the former Soviet republic, where a cultural center designed by the international architect Zaha Hadid is part of a planned redefinition of the city and country 20 years after the fall of the Soviet Union.
