DANVERS, Mass., May 18, 2010—Copyright Clearance Center Inc. (CCC), a not-for-profit organization that is the world's leading provider of copyright licensing solutions, has named veteran attorney Iris Geik as Associate General Counsel.

Iris joins Frederic Haber in CCC's Legal Department, which addresses the full gamut of legal issues that face CCC as a provider of both collective and centralized licensing solutions in copyright industries and of associated software-based tools and utilities. Previously, she represented clients in the publishing, entertainment and high tech industries. Iris was in-house Counsel at WGBH Public Television and, since 1994, had served as an outside counsel to Reed Elsevier and other prominent organizations on legal and copyright policy issues. She is an Adjunct Professor of Copyright Law at Suffolk University Law School, co-chair of the New England chapter of the Copyright Society of the USA, a member of the American Bar Association (and its Section on Intellectual Property), and a member of the International Trademark Association (and its Federal Legislation Committee).

"Iris brings extensive experience in copyright education, IP policy issues and government relations, all of which are central to CCC's mission, as well as over 15 years of legal experience in our field," said Tracey Armstrong, CEO of CCC. "She will bring all of those skills to bear on the legal matters that CCC addresses in its business, and we expect her to contribute especially to CCC's wide range of copyright education programs and our relationships with all participants in the production and use of copyrighted materials."
