Protests Against the Niqab Ban

Responding to recent bans against the niqab at Egypt’s Cairo and Al-Azhar universities (see our previous post), a group of women, unable to obtain a meeting with Cairo University President Dr. Hossam Kamel, are threatening to sue him and the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Hani Helal.  The protestors are being supported by students affiliated with the Islamist Labor Party, an originally socialist movement that has since turn Islamist.
