Help a gay: The Gay Stare

Thursday May 12, 2011
This gay man needs your help with what he calls "The Gay Stare." He tried it once and it went all wrong. Now what? Here's the problem:

"I have heard that the "Gay Stare" is a universal look that gays give to other guys in order to quietly say that they are gay and interested. My problem is I misinterpreted someone's "stare" and it caused me months of problems. In this thread I would like for you guys to post if you ever experienced something like the "Gay Stare" and also if possible post your opinons on how you would describe it."

Gay Mormon booted from The Voice

Thursday May 12, 2011
Tyler Robinson, the self-professed "gay Mormon," was eliminated from the NBC signing competition "The Voice." Robinson was eliminated by his coach, Blake Shelton, in the first knockout round.

Robinson's performance of "Burnin' Love" was praised by the show's judges - Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Adam Levine - but Shelton chose Patrick Thomas, his competitor, instead. Both Shelton and Thomas had to sing the same song at the same time. During rehearsals, Shelton urged Robinson to calm down his voice. "Just because he's a great singer, he wants to sing all over the map," Shelton said. "And he's going to have to reel that in."

Robinson did and Shelton acknowledged it: "You didn't [sing all over the map] tonight, and it was cool," he said. "It was just enough."

Shelton then chose Thomas, without much explanation.

Presbyterian Church OKs LGBT clergy

Wednesday May 11, 2011
While most of us LGBTers loathe the strong opposition to gay marriage, gay couples, gay member, or gay anything by most faiths, Presbyterians in the U.S. are celebrating after the church voted Tuesday to allow the ordination of gays and lesbians.

The Twin Cities Presbytery in Minneapolis became the 87th congregation to vote in favor of gay clergy. Rev. Dr. Janet Edwards cast one of the nearly 10,000 "yes" votes out of 17,000 ballots.

"Presbyterians across the country opened up their hearts to see that Christ's love embraces us all," Edwards said in a statement.

The best of Vienna gay bars

Wednesday May 11, 2011
Although not the biggest city in Europe or the most well-known for Western tourism, Vienna offers a variety of gay bars, cafes and clubs.

Overall, the atmosphere for gays in Vienna is pretty lax. Technically, gay marriage is legal since everyone, including straight couples, are pushed towards non-religious civil partnerships and it's not uncommon for hetero couples to refer to their spouses as "partners."

It's also not uncommon for gays, lesbians and straights to mix in some bars. Still, even with a mixed attitude and style, Austria's capital sports separate nightlife spots for gays, each with their own vibe and signature crowd. Here are Vienna's best gay bars.
